This is a descriptive study of modern astronomy for the general student, with emphasis on the physical principles describing the operation of various celestial objects. Topics include: the study of our Universe on a large scale, stars, nebulae, pulsars, black holes, galaxies, quasars, constellations, comets, meteors, asteroids, the Sun, Earth and Moon, and the Big Bang. This course will be helpful for students considering careers in Engineering, Ag & Natural Resources or Technological Sciences.

In this semester course, the student will study the concepts included in environmental studies. Topics included will be water studies, air quality, landfills, local issues, and other environmental concepts. The course will change a little each semester to accommodate weather conditions and material available for study. This course would be helpful to anyone interested in the affects of the stresses on the environment and how these changes affect us. This course will provide extra coursework for students headed into the Agriscience & Natural Resources, Engineering & Industrial Technological Sciences, Family & Human Services, Health Science fields.

This elective course will look at various aspects of forensic science and modern criminal investigation analysis. This course focuses on problem solving, with an emphasis on writing, using experimentation, theorization, research forensic methodologies, synthesized information and evidence-based conclusions. This knowledge will be applied to forensic investigation and the identification of remains. In addition the course will cover selected topics in toxicology, drug and alcohol abuse, serology, and terrorist and disaster response and emergency medical procedures. Students will write reports that record their results, conclusions and analyses of case studies and investigations.

Students will learn the basic concepts of chemistry and physics. This course stresses environmental responsibility. Students will be asked to use scientific skills and processes and will be required to research and present an environmental issue. This course will be especially helpful to students interested in careers in the Agriscience & Natural Resources and Engineering/Industrial & Technological Sciences career pathways.


Physiology studies the function and structure of the human body. As students study the basic organ systems, the anatomy and the biochemical reactions within each system will be emphasized. Applications for personal health and the medical field will be included.A variety of lab experiences will also be available.This course will help students looking at careers in the pathways of Family & Human Services and Health Sciences.
